To further enhance your student health insurance program and the well-being of your students, the following additional features are offered by Gallagher Student Health & Special Risk. These programs are available in conjunction with your Institution's sponsored insurance plan.
Dental Savings Plan
Obtaining convenient, affordable dental care is a top concern for both students and health service administrators. Gallagher Student Health & Special Risk and Basix, LLC have created a program that lowers dental expenses without driving up the cost of your health plan. The Dental Savings Program saves students up to 50% of the dentist's billed charges.
Basix creates customized networks of contracted dentists to serve our clients. The network dentists accept reduced fees for the services they provide to students enrolled in a Gallagher Student Health & Special Risk student health insurance plan. It is important to understand the Dental Savings Program is not dental insurance. The program pools the purchasing power of thousands of Gallagher Student Health & Special Risk Insurance beneficiaries to obtain better rates for dental services.
The website, www.basixstudent.com, describes how the program works, lists contracted providers and the fees they accept. Students can print the website information about the contracted dentist's fees to take to their appointment. There is no waiting period for services. A student or their covered dependent simply presents their student health insurance ID card at the time of the visit to show that he or she has access to our program. Payment for the services received is required at the time of the visit; however, the student will pay the dentist at the reduced rates.
This discount vision plan is available through EyeMed Vision Care. EyeMed's provider network consists of over 20,000 independent providers and retail stores nationwide, including LensCrafters, Target, Pearle Vision, Sears Optical and JCPenney Optical. This is not an insurance plan and there is no waiting period. Students receive a separate EyeMed vision plan ID card in the mail and can take advantage of the savings through EyeMed immediately upon receipt. Prescription eyeglasses, conventional contact lenses or even non-prescription sunglasses can be purchased at savings between 15% and 45% off regular retail pricing. In addition, discounts from 5% to 15% can be received for laser correction surgery at some of the nation's most highly qualified laser correction surgeons. Students can visit the program website www.eyemedvisioncare.com for additional plan information or to locate a provider.
This interactive wellness website helps students develop healthy, life-changing habits. To support the overall health education and wellness endeavors of our clients, we've included CampusFit as part of the Gallagher Student Health & Special Risk Complements program. CampusFit 'digitizes' knowledge from registered dietitians and certified fitness instructors to help teach and reinforce mainstream ideas about diet, nutrition, fitness and general wellness.
We also have extensive enhancements planned. For example, video lifetime sports instruction and automated workout planning. Currently, CampusFit website helps students to:
- Learn how their food choices affect their weight management efforts.
- Chart their daily energy consumption, and compare it to the recommendations of the Food Pyramid.
- Listen to recordings from award-winning nutritionists about the key ideas of energy management and weight loss.
- Measure their current fitness level against recognized standards.
- Download dozens of professionally produced fitness routines (on MP3 files and PDF files).
- Download guided imagery relaxation files to help with sleep and relaxation.
- Track general health and fitness measures with individualized reports.
24-Hour Nurse Advice Line
This 24-hour service provides personal and confidential healthcare information and assistance on a 24-hour a day/7-day a week basis, via a toll-free phone number that is customized for each school use. Calls are answered by registered nurses at all times and callers are provided with advice regarding all health-related questions. If appropriate, callers are directed to nearby health facilities as determined through conversations between Gallagher Student Health & Special Risk and the school's Student Health Center staff.
The nurse advice line is not a substitute for medical attention. The registered nurses cannot provide diagnosis or treatment. If callers have an emergency medical condition, they are directed to call 911 or their local emergency services number.

In addition, this program offers many valuable services for traveling students, including translation assistance, worldwide legal referrals, emergency travel funds assistance, lost document assistance, lost luggage assistance, medical referrals, pre-trip plans, medical monitoring, hospital deposit guarantee and prescription replacement.
