PHARMACY NETWORK INFORMATION

The prescription drug program is available through the UnitedHealthcare Pharmacy Network (Optum Rx). United's pharmacy network includes the Brown Health Services pharmacy, national retail pharmacies such as CVS, Walgreens, Brooks, and Eckert drugs as well as local independent pharmacies.

Most of your pharmacy needs can be met at the Brown Health Services pharmacy, which participates in the United network. Prescriptions can be filled at the Brown Health Services Pharmacy from outside providers, as well as transferred from another pharmacy. Please call 401-863-7882 to speak directly with the pharmacy staff.

To locate a pharmacy participating in the UnitedHealthcare network, call UnitedHealthcare at: 1-855-828-7716 or visit www.uhcsr.com, enter "Brown University", click "Find a Pharmacy” and choose "PBM National" from the drop-down box.

To download the most current prescription drug formulary, visit www.uhcsr.com, enter "Brown University", click on "Helpful Links" and choose "Rx Drug List" from the drop-down box. You can search this document for specific prescriptions to determine their copay tier, if preauthorization is required, if a prescription is excluded from coverage, if supply limits exist or if the prescription needs to be obtained through the specialty pharmacy.

To pay only a co-payment for prescriptions they must be filled at a United participating pharmacy. Show your ID card when filling a prescription to be charged the applicable copayments for your prescription drug program. If a prescriptions needs to be filled prior to receiving your ID card, you can pay for the prescription and seek reimbursement by completing a UHC Pharmacy Reimbursement Form and submitting it with the pharmacy receipt.
